Pre-med Internship Program

This 1–4 week elective is designed for international medical students to gain practical exposure to Sri Lanka’s public health system and preventive care services at the community level. The objective is to provide hands-on learning in national health programs and promote an understanding of healthcare delivery in a resource-limited setting. Students will observe real-world implementation of maternal and child health, school health, family planning, and other essential services, while also experiencing the holistic approach of Sri Lankan Ayurveda.
In addition to clinical observation, students can engage in public health research and tailor their learning experience based on specific interests.

Eligibility


• Medical students from recognized overseas universities
• Interest in public health, global medicine, or community care
• Minimum age: 18 years
• Flexible duration: 1 to 4 weeks
This program enriches medical understanding with a global perspective, emphasizing the socio-cultural determinants of health. Cultural excursions and community interaction offer an immersive experience in Sri Lankan traditions and daily life.
